FB Status Overload

Too many different things to write today, so I'll leave you with some Facebook Status' that won't make it on my wall today:

• 25 today... Yikes!

• I'm not sure my 25th bday will be as depressing as most others bc I'm getting **married** today!!!

• "Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, instead of a party, I'm getting married civilly."

• After today, Beyonce's "All my single ladies..." will no longer apply to me.

• One more year until my golden birthday!

• How will A top today's birthday present??? Nothing is as bigger than saying "I Do" :P

• Part one of the two part union starts today!!!

• Happy Birthday to my new cousin (nephew) Bo!! Can't wait to meet you!

• Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes! I am honored by you all and thankful for your friendship!

Mid Week Music Choices. Happy Wednesday!

Here are my Mid-Week Music Choices for this week:

Blue Skies - Noah and the Whale
Why I like this?
*acoustic guitar and piano... one of my favorite combinations

Crazy Girl - Eli Young Band
Why I like this?
*solely for the lyrics. Beautiful and lovely.
*Because I haven't been listening to enough Country music lately

Holding Onto Black Metal - My Morning Jacket
Why I like this?
*the use of distortion and wah-wah on the guitar.
*the fact that it's about metal and yet there is no use of metal-type music.
*back-up singers.
*"let's rock!"

Marriage 101

I normally don't do the whole "countdown" business. Who really wants to know that there are "X" amount of days until your birthday or until you're in college??

HOWEVER....

There are 12 days until A and I's wedding. And 4 days until we're "legally" married!!!!

And that's all I'm going to say about that, because I feel like 12 days isn't "facebook status" worthy, but 4 is.... ?????

While we're on the subject of getting married.... let me post a few questions that have entered into my brain recently.

Rachel's Marriage/Wedding Questions:

1. So, without fail, *something* will go wrong on my wedding day?

2. Is it normal to feel nervous about getting married? I mean, this is a lifetime commitment, and a commitment that requires a lot of maturity and responsibility -- so is it normal to feel this nervous about finally reaching this moment?

3. How do the newly weds decide on household chores? Is that something to talk about before or after the wedding?

4. What's the deal with lingerie? Is it just a honeymoon entity or something us brides should use on a regular basis? *side question: how often is "on a regular basis?"

5. Living together: Those little differences, I hear, are the ones that make a big problem. Should I just prepare myself that the toilet seat might always be up? That the toothpaste won't be squeezed from the bottom? Or that the bed won't be made? *And how do I prepare myself for those things?

6. Do I always have to watch what he's watching on TV? How often does the wife get the pick the channel?

7. One bathroom, 2 people.... is that going to be a problem?

8. After the honeymoon phase goes away --- what's next?

MWMC

Well, I missed "Mid Week Music Choice" AGAIN! *seriously??*

My last post is the reason why I've been behind on posting. I'm trying to get our home ready and decorated before the wedding, because it's "hit the ground and run" once we get back from the honeymoon. *seriously??*

Looks like we'll be going with some rando's that have been playing in my iTunes playlists... Sometimes I don't even realize I've got these songs until they get played when I put it on shuffle. Enjoy.

"Sunlight" -- Harlem Shakes

"What Makes A Man?" -- City and Colour

Grinding of the Gears

You know what really grinds my gears????

Delivery trucks. and their scheduling...

Example*

"Yes, m'am, the order is being delivered right now"

(2 hours later)

"M'am, can you wait another 2 hours?" .................... "Uh, sure...."

(4 hours later)

"You have reached XXXXXXXXX Trucking Delivery Service. We aren't available at the moment, but please leave your name, number, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you, and have a nice day."

(beep)

$I&*^%^$$%#*(&*&$#@#@$#^%*&^(*)(_(**^&%^%$$##$@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*this isn't an example, because it actually happened to me yesterday.

Random Things

  • I've been eating egg and bacon and cheese sandwiches a lot lately.... I should stop before things get out of hand.
  • I finished writing almost 100 thank you cards (no exaggeration) last night. Then rewarded myself by staying up till 1:30am. Ok, that's a lie.... I couldn't sleep last night. I haven't been sleeping well the past few nights.... and I *know* it's because there's this wedding and marriage coming up that's got me all sorts of emotional right now. Excited.... but emotional.
  • Today our bedroom furniture order is coming in. Thank goodness because I'm ready to move my stuff into our home and get things organized. I'll be sure to post pictures once it's all decorated.
  • There are 10 things left to do on my Wedding Checklist. There are 19 days left until the wedding. I always imagined what it would feel like being so close to your wedding day -- being a ball of excitement, the realization that you're actually going to be married and living with this man for the rest of your life, getting haircuts and mani-pedis, and thinking by-this-time-next-week-we'll-be-married thoughts. So now that I'm here it feels all so different. Nothing, but yet exactly, what I thought it would feel like.
  • I can't wait to be doing this or this in 19 days....

In your wedding dress...

Took some bridal portraits today and yesterday here around different places in Abilene.

I used some online help for ideas and tomorrow we're taking a look at the rough cuts.

I am looking forward to see them. Since I won't be posting any real pictures of me in my "white dress" I'll leave you with a couple photos of my ideas...

I love the white swing! So "homey"

Beautiful way to add some Church effect to your portraits.

In other news, A and I have received a LARGE amount of target gift cards. I mean-- it is unreal the amount of credit we have at that store. Anyway, he had mentioned jokingly (I think) that we buy an xbox (typical). And as I walked around Target today I realized that most of the gifts we've received have been for the kitchen or bedroom, so an xbox wouldn't be a bad gift for the fiancé who has put up with his bridezilla.

So I took that gift card and went on a major shopping spree. I bought items for the honeymoon, for our patio at our place, and... an xbox bundle for the future hubs. Call me crazy, but we honestly had no idea what to do with the store credit. And check this out--- I did the whole shopping spree and somehow managed to still have store credit at target. "????????"

So here's a BIG thanks from A and I for showering your love and gifts on us. We are honored and blessed to have such loving family and friends.

Saturday Saturday

Anyone else remember the greatness of a childhood Saturday?!

Waking up to the smell of pancakes and bacon or the occasional donut dozen...

Watching Saturday morning cartoons like the Smurfs, Rugrats, and Recess...

Riding bikes with the neighborhood kids and making all kinds of ruckus...

Learning how to cook from Julia Child because that's what your mom watched as soon as your cartoon morning was up...

Pulling out the Barbie trunk with your cousins when they came over...
... And being jealous of your cousins new barbie jeep or barbie pool set.

Learning the days of the week because of Saturdays reruns of "Happy Days"

Ice cream trucks that sold teenage mutant ninja turtle popsicles with gumball eyes...

McDonald's birthday parties with the delicious orange soda drink and free happy meal...

Sneaking in a Saturday afternoon movie like "leprechaun 2" or "Problem Child"

Playing "house" or "school" in evening while your mom made supper....

Watching your brother play Super Smash Bros. Until you both knocked out from being tired....

Waking up on Sunday morning on the floor next to your parents bed and not remembering at all how you got there....

Aaaaaah....... Happy Saturday y'all!

MWMC (delayed)

Late night for me last night. I got caught up watching Wolf Creek last night, and never made it out of bed due to a fear of being murdered. **shudder** And of course, I couldn't go right to sleep once the movie ended. That would have given me horrible nightmares. So I watched FRIENDS for a good hour or hour and a half before finally falling asleep... with the TV on.... I hate that. So, today I woke up with one of those sleep-deprived hangovers. Don't you hate those? Ugh.

I'm sorry I missed MWMC yesterday. So here are a few choices for calming down after watching scary movies.... and for non-alcohol provoked hangovers.

"Calgary" - Bon Iver

"Sail" - AWOLNATION

"Shake Me Down" -- Cage the Elephant

GRINDS MY GEARS

Woke up on Sunday morning with a bad case of the stomach bug. Went to the doctor after Church, and got two little hiney shots and about $50 worth of meds. I'm not big on pills (or even doctors) so for me to get myself up out of bed and to the doctor was a big deal.

But I lived through the pain. Poor doctor had to clean up the mess I made in his bathroom, though. (too much??)

So I've spent the past 24 hours lying in bed... sleeping... chugging Gatorade and Sprite... channel surfing for a few hours.... and I even worked on some wedding stuff. (now, *there's* a committed bride.)

So, with this annoying sickness ruining my two week vacation in Mexico, I've come up with a small list of what really...

"Grinds My Gears"

1. I love brushing my teeth. Love it. The feeling of clean teeth has got to be on the top of my "most favorite things" list --- but that sound of the brush against my teeth???? Hate it. Loathe it. Can't stop thinking about it. Ugh.

2. iPhone Auto Correct. For my fellow iPhone users.... isn't it one of the worst love/hate relationships you've ever been in? I mean, how in the world does it think that the word "purpleberry" should actually be "Drake McGowen" (BTW, who even is Drake McGowen??)

3. The fact that I never, ever... EVER put in a USB correctly on the first try.

4. People who don't silence their phones when their having a text conversation. "Seriously, dude, Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' was cool the first time it rang, but I'm going to take that phone and shove it in an unhappy place of yours if you do not turn the phone on silent."

5. Clocks not set the right time. I tend to over-round my time. For example, if the clock says "6:48" then in my mind it is 6:50. And if it is "6:50" in my mind, then really it is 7 o'clock. I just jumped time by 12 minutes. So when a clock is off by 5-10 minutes... my whole schedule is off, and my body goes crazy.
